How AuditMe Scores a Website
AuditMe runs 50+ checks across 9 categories to produce a comprehensive SEO health score. Every check, data source, and scoring decision is documented here.
Scoring Overview
AuditMe calculates a composite score (0-100) by evaluating across 9 weighted categories. Each category contains multiple individual checks, each producing a pass/warn/fail result.
Score Calculation
For each category:
category_score = (passed_checks / total_checks) × 100
Final composite score:
total = Σ(category_score × weight) / Σ(weights)
The weighted approach ensures that critical categories (Technical SEO, Performance, Content) have proportionally higher impact on the final score than lighter categories (Security, Crawl).

Each check produces a severity level based on its impact on SEO performance. Severity determines how prominently the issue is displayed and how urgently it should be addressed.
Blocks indexing or ranking. Immediate action required. Examples: missing title tag, noindex on important page, broken canonical.
Significant SEO impact. Should be fixed within 1-2 weeks. Examples: missing meta description, slow LCP, no H1 tag.
Moderate improvement possible. Plan for next sprint. Examples: short title tag, missing alt text, thin content.
Best practice, minimal direct SEO impact. Address when convenient. Examples: missing hreflang, suboptimal heading hierarchy.
Data Sources
Chrome User Experience Report (CrUX)
Field data from real Chrome users. Provides LCP, FID, CLS, FCP, and TTFB metrics. Data is 28-day rolling average. Only available for pages with sufficient traffic.

PageSpeed Insights (PSI)
Combines CrUX field data with Lighthouse lab analysis. Provides performance metrics, accessibility checks, and optimization recommendations.

Internal HTML Crawler
Fetches and parses raw HTML. Extracts meta tags, heading structure, schema markup, links, images, and content signals. Follows robots.txt and respects crawl directives.
AI Visibility Scanner
Deterministic checks for AI-readiness: LLMIs.txt presence, AI bot access rules, content structure for citation, entity clarity, and answerability scoring.
Crawl Methodology
Discovery
Breadth-first traversal starting from the provided URL. Internal links are followed to discover additional pages. The crawler respects robots.txt directives and skips disallowed paths.
Redirect Tracking
HTTP redirects (301, 302, 307, 308) are followed and recorded. Redirect chains are flagged if they exceed 3 hops. Final destination URL is used for canonical comparison.
Page Depth
Distance from homepage is measured in hops. Pages more than 3 levels deep may be harder for search engines to discover and are flagged accordingly.
Limits
Anonymous users: 30 pages per crawl. Free accounts: 100 pages. Pro accounts: 500 pages. Maximum crawl depth: 10 levels.
Limitations
AuditMe is a diagnostic tool, not a guarantee of SEO performance. The following limitations apply:
- • CrUX data availability:Not all pages have CrUX data. Pages with low traffic may show "No data" for performance metrics.
- • Lab vs field data: PageSpeed Insights lab data is collected from a single test run and may not reflect real-world conditions.
- • Crawler limitations: JavaScript-heavy pages may render differently in our crawler than in Googlebot.
- • No backlink data: AuditMe does not crawl external backlinks. Use dedicated tools (Ahrefs, Semrush) for backlink analysis.
- • No ranking data: AuditMe analyzes on-page factors, not search rankings. Rankings depend on hundreds of additional signals.
- • AI visibility is directional: AI visibility checks assess structural readiness, not actual AI citation rates.
